Solar thermal solutions utilize passive solar energy to heat water. Closed loop, indirect systems are highly efficient and can be used to heat domestic hot water, preheat boilers, drive absorption chillers, and even generate steam for electrical turbines. These systems work efficiently to significantly offset utility expenses and reducing a building's dependence on natural gas and electricity.

Requiring a relatively smaller footprint than their equivalent PV system they are often powerful solutions for commercial customers in the Washington Metro region with significant domestic hot water demands or boiler systems.
